If you remove a part-full can, do it quick so the valves close as soon as possible, then squirt a good dose of cleaner through and around the valve. You'll still have to strip it down every so often.

I don't glue/cement the foam into the case so that it can be easily changed later. I've done that with my rifle length Pelican case already, and will probably need to do it again soon.
